Sandra Baby Shower

My cousin Sandra and I have been close for so many years. I am older then her by two years and yet she is one of my best friends.  I just love her. So she is pregnant with her first baby, its going to be a boy

I have always told my cousin that I will make a baby blanket for her.  So in June I called her and asked her what are her baby colors.  She said blue and brown, but I all ready got blue and white for her blanket. The pattern that I used I found on Ravelry.  I have never made this kind of blanket before but is fun.  I modified it a little by doing only the back loops and increasing the chains in every 4 rounds. I used Red Hart baby soft yarn Aqua and White.  It took me about  month to finish it but that is because I made another surprise for her.
The surprise that I made for may cousin was a diaper cake. I asked her what kind of animals she would like and she said that she like the "Lion King" so in other words a jungle theme.  So I took that idea and ran with it.  This is the diaper cake I made my cousin.

I got the patterns from "Vanna's Choice Easy Crochet Critters" from Lion Brand Yarn. I made an elephant, lion, monkey and alligator. I thought I was finnished but I felt that it was missing something.  So I tried to make "Zazu" I got the pattern for "Zazu" from Lion Brand Yarn Amigurumi Parrot.

I did modify the parrot a little by adding "Zazu" tail.  At least three of the animals have bells in them ether in their head, wings or legs.  It was so much fun to make.

I know she likes the gift.

Baby Shower

I have been working on a baby shower present for three weeks now and I have just finished it. I have been working on three different patterns and making a dipper cake that I saw on Joanna's and Alli Crafts. I will add the patterns later but I wanted to just show case what I have made. I have been having a lot of fun working on it. I took it to the baby shower and it was a big success. My friend loved it ! I had many people recommend that I sell them. That is still something in the air. we'll see when it happens.

Okay the story behind the bibs and toys.  I have a really good friend who I just love and when she told me that she was having her baby shower in 3 weeks I was like. Three weeks!! what can I make in three weeks.  So I thought I would try some bibs I saw the frog bib on my favorite website Lion Brand Yarn.  So I made that as well as the amigurumi frog.  those were my first attempt. then I asked my friend what animals she wanted and she said Monkeys or Giraffes.  So I found a giraffe amigurumi pattern and then I came up with a bib using the base of the frog pattern I did the same for the monkey bib.  I then made a monkey amigurumi from what I saw while researching how monkeys look.  I made t all in three weeks and I added the dipper cake for fun. I hope my friend likes it.

Frogs

I have a friend who is having a baby boy, I asked what colors she likes for the baby and she said green and brown.  As I was thinking about what to make here with those colors and in 3 weeks for the baby shower, I deced to look on line.  I found two paterns on the  Lion Brand Yarn web site www.lionbrand.com; first a frog bib and then Amigurumi Frog (toy frog).  I have never made a baby bib or an amigurumi toy this has been my first.  I hope you like it.

This is Me

Hi welcome to my blog.  This is something new to me and I hope you like it.  I am from the wonderful state of Colorado so majestic with its rocky mountains. I know what you must think all people from Colorado must know how to ski. Well sorry to disappoint you but I don't, I craft in the winter months.  I have a vast interest in crafts, but my favorite is yarn.  I love working with yarn so much.  I like to create thing with my trusty crochet hook and yarn.
I got my start with crochet from my mom when I was 16, but didn't get into it until my life to an unexpected turn.  I had to learn how to stay at home and not risk getting hurt, so I picked up my "H" hook and started making a blanket. My life has taken an other turn but this time is letting me go out. Even with that during the winter I love to sit a home with my crochet hooks and spend the time doing small projects. I never finished that first blanket :)'
As a keep learning new things and having fun with old I'll be posting them here.  one thing I need to learn how to do is write pattern for crochet.  Thank you for visiting. Esme
